A quick share

I'm proofing photos from last night's photo shoot. Here's one that I love:

Berry Good

I love picking the raspberries in our garden. The man who lived here before us had planted them. I am totally not a green thumb, but somehow we always end up with buckets of raspberries every summer.
This year they ripened very early. We have had a lot of very warm days here in Minnesota, too many for June. Normally, I get one or two berries by July 4th. But this already this week, we've had bowls full.

I usually go out after dinner to pick, right at sunset. I put on lots of bug spray, because the mosquitos love to hide in the bushes.
As it turn over the vines, searching for ripe berries, I let my mind wander. I get very lost in thought. I don't think I give myself enough time to just get lost in thought. For me the picking of the berries is like therapy. Its nice, quiet time. I think we could all use more quiet time.

Bodilicious turnes 5!

All he wanted was a Nintendo DS, like his brother's, and a dog. We finally got him talked out of a dog, I think. But he got the DS, and a few other gifts he really wanted, like the one Hotwheels SkateFreaks stunt park he didn't already have. He had a totally cool Skateboard cake, too.

Here are some things about Bodie at 5 years old:
- Loves skateboarding, and pretty much any other sport where you can get really hurt.
- Love Peanut Butter and Jelly, Yogurt, and Chicken Nuggets
- He won't eat any green vegetables except peas
- His favorite color is green, but he says it's red because that's his Big Brother's favorite color.
- Still comes into my room in the morning to snuggle
- Loves to be read to and loves mazes
- Can fart or burp on command (he really is talented!)
- Has a great sense of humor
- His favorite shows are Spongebob Squarepants, Dirty Jobs, Wonder Pets, and America's Funniest Home Videos
- Loves playing in dirt and being filthy

My Boys

I took the boys out last week for a quick session. They were surprisingly cooperative. I think lately they see me like celebrities see the paparazzi, so I was glad they decided to me good subjects for me. I think it helped that I promised them new haircuts the next day at Fantastic Sam's, where they love going.
Tye is 8 and a half, and Bo will be 5 already next week. The time is going by way too fast! He is super excited for his birthday. I sure miss the days when we brought the little bugger home from the hospital, when he was so small.

Go Morneau!

We had a blast at the game Sunday. We headed up early to the game so we could get the mini Joe Mauer wind-up toys. I also won a rally rag from AM 1500 KSTP. They were the ones who gave us the tickets I won. Outside we even ran into our friends the Kuehns! We had time to watch some of the Brewers pre-game practice. Tye tried to catch a ball since we were in the Homerun Porch, but had no luck. The game was great with lots of action and going into the bottom of the 9th the score was tied 9-9. Justin Morneau was up first to bat, and slammed the first pitch for a homerun. Its obvious why he was the 2006 MVP!

New Haircut and New Shoes

I'm a few days behind on all the pictures I've taken lately, so I will start with Bo's new haircut. The shaggy look I so loved is gone. In place of it is a new, summer-friendly haircut. It was just way too warm lately for him to keep the cool skater look we all loved. I think we will grow it out again this fall. But for now here are the photos:

Also, we went to my favorite shoe store, Payless to try to find some black croc-style shoes to replace the ones I have almost worn through. I had no luck, and they didn't have any in my size (size: huge!). But the boys made a find and since it's BOGO, they both got a pair. Why don't they make these in adult sizes?

Hannah and Zeke

This is John's youngest cousin, Hannah, on her horse. She is pretty impressive!

My Sk8r Boy

He practiced one night in Uncle Johnny's driveway in Ft. Worth. He got really good. There was just enough of a decline in the driveway to push him forward, so he mostly practice balancing and learning to lean to turn. I wish we had a driveway where he could practice more.

Guess where I'll be Sunday

This is part of the email I got Monday:

Subject: Father's Day Twins Tickets

Hi -
Congratulations! You have been chosen to win a four pack of Home Run Porch tickets to Sunday June 17th's Twins game vs. the Milwaukee Brewers at 1:10p.

How cool is that? I never win anything. And we have been meaning to go to at least one Twins game this season. I won them from KSTP (am 1500) in the cities. I listen to them for Garage Logic with Joe Soucheray. It is incredibly entertaining. Joe is the Mayor of his own made up town, where everything is like it was in the good ol' days. He is gives that sensible "fatherly" opinion on everything under the moon. And I love the good-hearted ribbing he gives Rookie.
Give it a listen if yu get the cahnce. They even have podcasts!
