A+A Engagement

I finally got a chance to do an engagement session. They are not getting married until next summer, but don't have many photos together. It was incredibly wet and muggy, but I love how they turned out!

Here I used a new preset I developed, Grape Kiss.

Another on the bridge-these shots turned out to be my favorites. Here I used another preset I made...

And that same preset again...

Thanks you two!

I've been tagged!

Krystal of Krystal McGee Photography tagged me. I think this is truly the first time I've been tagged, and here are the rules:

1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 5 songs you are embarrassed to admit to others you like and tell why.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Ok, so I'm pulling out my Zune to see what embarrassing songs I have on it...

1. The Humpty Dance by Digital Underground- I love it. It takes me back to 8th grade instantly, and somehow I still remember all the words...
"A'ight, stop whatcha doin'
'Cause I'm about to ruin
The image and the style that ya used to.
I look funny,
But yo, I'm makin' money, see
So yo world I hope you're ready for me."

2. 100 years by Five for Fighting- This is truly the kind of song I can' stand. I don't like the Dave Matthews sound-a-like style. But I really like the lyrics.

3. Any early 90's techno-dance hit- I ove them all. They remind me of my time as an exchange student, when we would go out to clubs and dance all night. Oh yes, song from the likes of Ace of Base, 2 Unlimited, Crystal Waters, and Haddaway. Yes, Haddaway. "What is Love? Baby don't hurt me...", that song from Night at the Roxbury...

4. A couple of songs by John Denver- John teases me relentlessly about owning the greatest hits album. I don't care for the very country stuff, but love "Annie's song" & "Sunshine on my shoulders".

5. On top of the world by the Carpenters- So very sappy.

So there is my list.

Ok, so now I'm supposed to tag 7 people. Unfortunately, I don't really know many people that blog. So. I'm only listing 5.

Here are my tagged fellow blog authors (whose blogs you really should read and add to your Google Reader):

1. Jason -an old friend

2. Jessica- She's a great mommy who has done an excellent job chronicling her daughter's life (on a separate blog)

3. Jessica Bell- A great photographer in Indiana. She's got real talent!

4. Heather B. - another great photographer in Colorado. Check out her precious boys!

5. Kelly B. -she's a former co-worker who is trying her hand a photography also.

Sneak Peek for Nikki...

...and for thier grandma! Beautiful twin girls.

He faced his fear

Last week when Tye's coach asked him to play catcher, he politely declined.
When Tye's coach told him tonight he was going to play catcher, he immediately broke down. I felt so bad for him.
Last year, he played catcher. Things went really well, at first.
Then he took a pitch to the groin. He was wearing a cup, but apparently it wasn't enough. Being a girl I wouldn't know. But it was obviously painful, since he fell over in a heap.
Even though he was clearly upset tonight, he tried to catch anyway. And I couldn't be prouder of him. He faced a big fear for such a small guy.
His coach was really great about it, and stayed near him the whole time. He showed him how to squat correctly, how to postion the glove, throwing arm tucked behind the back, etc.

After a few pitches, he was fine. He did take a pitch to the gut, but with the pads he didn't even notice. He even said he enjoyed it and would play catcher again.

I'm here, I promise

I'm really here, just also really busy. The boys are both out of school now, and both playing baseball. I'm a co-coach for Bodie's team, and Tye has a game and a practice each once a week. Tye is also taking violin and loving it! Fortunately, we are able to do some carpooling, otherwise, I would feel like a chauffeur for all the places these kids need to go. The boys are going to have a backyard summer party this week also, and are really looking forward to having all their friends over.
I'm busy editing in my "spare" time. I just finished up some photos for a new menu for our favorite Mexican restaurant (hence the margaritas above), as well as some engagement and family portraits from other sessions. I'm pretty much booked for June, and with the holiday on the 4th and us going on vacation the second week of July, I'm really not able to take on any other sessions until mid-July. It kinda feels nice to be so busy!
I also am working on some new ideas for sessions, like the TTV (shooting Through The Viewfinder -TTV- of older cameras) thing that's so popular right now. I'm having fun practicing when I can. Hopefully, I'll be able to post more soon!
